Overview

Kandji is our Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution for Mac computers. It ensures devices are properly configured, secured, and compliant with company policies.

Getting Started

Device Enrollment

New Mac Setup:

  1. Turn on your Mac
  2. Follow the setup assistant
  3. Sign in with your company credentials
  4. Device automatically enrolls in Kandji
  5. Wait for configuration profiles and apps to install

Existing Mac Enrollment:

  1. Contact TechOps for enrollment profile
  2. Download and install the profile
  3. Restart if prompted
  4. Complete enrollment wizard

Kandji Self Service

Access Self Service:

  1. Find Kandji Self Service in Applications folder
  2. Or click Kandji icon in menu bar
  3. Sign in if prompted

Install Apps:

  1. Open Kandji Self Service
  2. Browse available applications
  3. Click Install on desired app
  4. Wait for installation to complete

Using Kandji

Self Service App Installation

Available Through Self Service:

  • Productivity tools
  • Communication apps
  • Development tools
  • Security software
  • Browser extensions

To Install:

  1. Open Kandji Self Service
  2. Search for the app you need
  3. Click the app card
  4. Click Install
  5. Enter password if prompted
  6. App installs automatically

Checking Device Compliance

View Status:

  1. Click Kandji icon in menu bar
  2. Check status indicators:
    • ✅ Green: Compliant
    • ⚠️ Yellow: Action needed
    • ❌ Red: Non-compliant

Resolve Issues:

  1. Click status indicator
  2. Review required actions
  3. Follow prompts to resolve
  4. Contact TechOps if unable to resolve

Software Updates

Kandji manages macOS and app updates:

Automatic Updates:

  • Security updates installed automatically
  • Major macOS updates scheduled by TechOps
  • App updates managed through Kandji

Check for Updates:

  1. Apple menu → System Settings/Preferences
  2. Software Update
  3. Or contact TechOps to push updates

Common Issues

Device Showing as Non-Compliant

Problem: Kandji shows device isn't compliant.

Solution:

  1. Click Kandji menu bar icon
  2. Review compliance issues
  3. Follow remediation steps
  4. Restart if prompted
  5. Contact TechOps if issues persist

Self Service App Won't Install

Problem: App installation fails in Self Service.

Solution:

  1. Check internet connection
  2. Ensure enough disk space
  3. Restart and try again
  4. Check for macOS updates
  5. Contact TechOps for assistance

Kandji Agent Not Running

Problem: Kandji icon missing from menu bar.

Solution:

  1. Open System Settings/Preferences
  2. Go to Profiles
  3. Verify Kandji profiles are installed
  4. Restart your Mac
  5. If still missing, contact TechOps

Can't Install Unapproved Apps

Problem: macOS blocks app installation.

Solution:

  1. This is expected for security
  2. Check if app is available in Kandji Self Service
  3. If needed for work, request through TechOps
  4. TechOps will review and approve if appropriate
  5. Don't bypass security controls

Best Practices

Security

  • Keep Kandji agent running at all times
  • Don't remove Kandji profiles
  • Install updates promptly
  • Use Self Service for approved apps
  • Report suspicious activity to TechOps

Device Maintenance

  • Restart regularly (weekly recommended)
  • Keep at least 20GB free disk space
  • Back up important files to cloud storage
  • Contact TechOps before major changes

App Installation

  • Use Self Service first
  • Request apps through proper channels
  • Don't install from unofficial sources
  • Keep apps updated through Kandji
